Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, maintain, and support a Python backtesting framework for researchers, financial engineers, quants, strategists, and traders.
- Provide technical leadership and vision for software development projects.
- Define technical architecture and roadmaps for large-scale, mission-critical systems.
- Develop scalable distributed systems and performant code for large datasets.
- Establish departmental goals and objectives aligned with business priorities.
- Oversee software development execution, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Collaborate with quants, traders, business stakeholders, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams.
- Drive recruitment and retention of technical talent and foster innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Requirements
- Experience developing and designing distributed systems in Python.
- Experience with NumPy, pandas, Polars, or similar libraries for performant large-dataset processing.
- Strong focus on automated testing, code quality, continuous deployment, scalability, and stable systems.
- Thorough understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithm design.
- Ability to build scalable solutions in collaboration with business stakeholders.
- Strong technical and general communication skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
- Preferred: experience in a front-office environment with trading and quantitative strategists.
- Preferred: knowledge of or interest in equities, options, futures, ETFs, or structured products.
- Preferred: KDB experience or experience with another high-performance time-series database.
- Preferred: experience designing parallelizable computational code and knowledge of the common Python data engineering stack.
