Base Salary
$120k - $203k/yr
Responsibilities
- Draft and deliver detection use cases in Falcon Query Language and other security query languages.
- Create Jira and Confluence documentation for detection use cases according to prescribed business processes.
- Investigate threat reports and detection requests to determine whether new detection use cases are warranted.
- Present production-ready use cases to executive governing boards for review and approval.
- Write detection-oriented business cases, project plans, and reasoned explanations supporting detection engineering projects.
- Partner with technical and non-technical professionals to improve detection, protection, and response functions.
- Analyze high-volume datasets to identify patterns and actionable insights.
- Use Splunk, SPL, FQL, Python, R, and SQL for detection engineering, data manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
Requirements
- At least two years of cybersecurity detection engineering experience gained through a Bachelor of Science in STEM or through employment or volunteering.
- Industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications with demonstrable hands-on proficiency.
- Software development and scripting experience using RegEx, Perl, Python, or PowerShell.
- Ability to code detection use cases using SPL or FQL and use Splunk for detection engineering.
- Ability to perform data manipulation, analysis, and reporting using Python, R, or a similar analytics language.
- Ability to use Structured Query Language.
- Knowledge of the global cyber threat landscape, adversaries, tactics, techniques, procedures, threat intelligence, malware, and infrastructure and application telemetry.
- Ability to use Jira and Confluence to develop, document, collaborate on, and release use cases into production.
- Ability to write polished descriptive and persuasive business documents and audit-ready explanations.
- Experience in ethical hacking, data analytics, military cyber operations, penetration testing, cyber defense, or cyber transformation program management is valued.
- Experience at a large multinational financial services or technology consulting firm is valued.
- Ability to create polished presentations using PowerPoint, Power BI, or other data visualization tools is valued.
