Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, and optimize core data platform components for enterprise on-premises, hybrid-cloud, and service-provider environments.
- Improve performance across I/O stacks, memory management, database engines, distributed messaging, and data models.
- Lead technical design reviews, influence the roadmap, mentor engineers, and serve as an escalation point for complex technical blockers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build pragmatic, reliable solutions based on customer challenges.
- Identify suitable internal data platform technologies and contributions for open-sourcing.
- Help define high-impact initiatives and quarterly priorities while reducing technical debt.
- Operate and improve distributed data systems, including observability, backup and restore, disaster recovery, and zero-downtime migrations.
- Work effectively within a geographically distributed team.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience building and scaling large-scale software, with a focus on distributed systems and database internals.
- Expert-level proficiency in Go, C++, or Rust, with working knowledge of Python for automation, prototyping, and service integration.
- Deep knowledge of data architectures and internals, including indexing, storage engines, data models, and query optimization.
- Experience with analytical and time-series systems such as ClickHouse, Prometheus, and VictoriaMetrics.
- Experience with relational databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Experience with graph databases including Neo4j and Dgraph.
- Experience with messaging systems including NATS and Apache Kafka.
- Architectural understanding of Kubernetes and stateful, highly available cloud-native data services.
- Experience operating distributed big-data systems in resource-constrained on-premises or hybrid-cloud environments.
- Experience using AI tools for code generation, automated design reviews, or accelerating software delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, solve complex infrastructure problems, and drive projects to completion.
