Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable Java backend services and APIs for payments data integration.
- Lead architecture, design decisions, ADRs, and technical design reviews.
- Build and evolve AWS infrastructure with infrastructure as code, observability, and security controls.
- Develop event-driven and workflow-based integrations with robust idempotency, retry, and failure-handling patterns.
- Use OpenCode, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and other agentic AI tools for development, testing, refactoring, review, and debugging.
- Define team practices for AI agents, including reusable skills, prompts, instructions, security guardrails, and quality standards.
- Mentor engineers on effective and critical use of AI-generated code.
- Partner with product, architecture, and security stakeholders to turn ambiguous problems into delivery plans.
- Participate in production support and incident response and drive reliability improvements.
Requirements
- Extensive experience building production backend systems in Java with Spring or a similar framework.
- Hands-on AWS experience, including services such as EC2, EKS, ECS, Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, IAM, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, API design, messaging or streaming such as Kafka, and data integration patterns.
- Practical experience with AI-assisted and agentic development workflows and judgment about their risks and limitations.
- Demonstrated technical leadership across teams, including influencing design, mentoring, and delivering complex outcomes.
- Strong testing, CI/CD, and observability practices.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar field.
- Preferred qualifications include Kotlin, agent skills, MCP servers, AI-driven engineering automation, payments domain knowledge such as ISO 20022 or NPP, Temporal, containers, Kubernetes, and security or compliance experience in regulated environments.
