Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support components for foundation model training, LLM inference, similarity search, guardrails, evaluations, experimentation, governance, and observability.
  • Invent and apply LLM optimization techniques to improve production AI system scalability, cost, latency, throughput, and hardware utilization.
  • Develop context-generation techniques that optimize cost and quality trade-offs.
  • Implement automated monitoring, anomaly detection, and root-cause analysis for multi-turn and headless agentic applications.
  • Collaborate with lines of business to design and implement high-value agentic applications.
  • Coach and mentor Staff, Principal, and Senior engineers and lead multiple engineering teams.
  • Author technical design documents and blogs and represent Capital One at top-tier AI conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • At least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies.
  • At least 8 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
  • Strong engineering, mathematics, hardware, software, and AI expertise.
  • Preferred 10+ years deploying scalable and responsible solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud.
  • Preferred 4+ years architecting, designing, developing, integrating, delivering, and supporting complex AI systems.
  • Preferred 6+ years developing AI/ML technologies such as LLM inference, similarity search, vector databases, guardrails, or memory using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.
  • Preferred 2+ years of experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain, CrewAI, or AutoGen.
  • Preferred 2+ years leading GenAI or LLM-powered application architectures in production.
  • Preferred 2+ years developing state-of-the-art training and inference optimization techniques.
  • Preferred 2+ years with observability and evaluations for agentic applications.
  • Preferred master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, especially in AI/ML.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor multiple engineering teams and influence stakeholders up to the VP level.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
