Responsibilities
- Partner with engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI components for model training, LLM inference, similarity search, guardrails, evaluations, experimentation, governance, and observability.
- Develop optimization and context-generation techniques for production AI systems, improving scalability, cost, latency, throughput, and quality.
- Implement automated monitoring, anomaly detection, and root-cause analysis for multi-turn and headless agentic applications.
- Collaborate with business lines to design and implement high-value agentic applications.
- Coach and mentor Staff, Principal, and Senior engineers; author technical documents and blogs; and represent Capital One at Tier 1 AI conferences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- At least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies.
- At least 8 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
- Preferred: 10+ years deploying scalable and responsible cloud solutions and 4+ years architecting, developing, integrating, delivering, and supporting complex AI systems.
- Preferred: experience with AI/ML technologies such as LLM inference, similarity search, vector databases, guardrails, and memory using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.
- Preferred: 2+ years with agentic frameworks, production GenAI or LLM-powered application architectures, AI training and inference optimization, and observability and evaluations for agentic applications.
- Preferred: Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, especially AI/ML.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor multiple engineering teams, influence stakeholders up to the VP level, communicate complex AI concepts, and apply current AI research in production.
