Base Salary

$196k - $294k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve infrastructure supporting Vercel’s build and deployment lifecycle, including webhooks, database schemas, and scalable APIs.
  • Design and operate high-performance microservices processing millions of builds daily.
  • Lead projects end-to-end, from identifying opportunities and defining technical direction to delivering performance, reliability, and developer-experience improvements.
  • Collaborate across teams to align infrastructure with company goals and enable seamless developer workflows.
  • Shape the long-term vision and standards for agentic infrastructure, scalability, reliability, and developer productivity.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and take responsibility for critical-system reliability.
  • Contribute to the open-source community and write clean, efficient, tested, and documented code.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience designing, building, and operating backend applications and distributed systems at scale.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Strong proficiency with AWS cloud infrastructure and Terraform infrastructure as code.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership from design and implementation through long-term production operation.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, influence priorities, drive alignment, and reason about architectural tradeoffs.
  • Experience mentoring, conducting code reviews, or otherwise improving team engineering practices.
  • Bonus: familiarity with React or Next.js, experience with DynamoDB, developer or CI/CD platforms, open-source contributions, monorepo or polyrepo build optimization, build caching, artifact storage, or dependency management at scale.

  • The role’s base pay range is $196,000.00-$294,000.00, with location-based adjustments outside San Francisco and potential additional benefits, equity, bonus, or variable pay.
