Responsibilities
- Own Coupang’s critical recommendation service and help continuously improve the customer discovery experience.
- Collaborate with global teams to build and scale recommendation systems.
- Analyze large-scale customer behavior data to derive actionable insights.
- Develop machine learning models, features, ranking algorithms, and recommendation improvements.
- Create data jobs, train and evaluate models, run experiments, and launch new algorithms.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers across teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field.
- At least 5 years of professional applied AI/ML experience working with large-scale, complex datasets.
- Proven ability to derive insights from complex datasets and solve business-critical problems with advanced AI/ML technologies.
- Experience serving as a domain technical leader and driving cross-team delivery of large-scale, high-impact solutions.
- Track record of launching successful algorithms with measurable business impact.
- Professional industry experience with Python and/or Java.
- Professional proficiency in English and strong communication skills.
- Preferred: Ph.D. or master’s degree in a relevant technical or scientific field.
- Preferred: experience with recommendation or search systems, LLMs, PLMs, embedding models, cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP, Vertex AI, and large-scale online serving systems.
