Responsibilities
- Set the technical vision and roadmap for end-to-end agentic search.
- Lead execution from foundational research through production deployment.
- Advance sparse, dense, and hybrid retrieval, reranking, and learning-to-retrieve systems.
- Design interfaces across search, memory, planning, tool use, and orchestration.
- Develop reinforcement-learning and other learning-based methods for search policies, routing, and orchestrator behavior.
- Build offline, online, and production-telemetry evaluation systems for retrieval, grounding, citations, tool use, and long-horizon task completion.
- Optimize quality, latency, throughput, reliability, and inference cost across the search stack.
- Provide technical leadership across Research, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Product.
- Mentor senior technical talent and raise standards for architecture, research, and execution.
Requirements
- Deep expertise across the full search stack, including areas beyond dense retrieval.
- Experience building agentic systems, memory systems, or learned orchestrators.
- Experience applying reinforcement learning or sequential decision-making to search, agents, or tool use.
- Experience building end-to-end evaluation systems with offline evaluations, online experiments, and production telemetry.
- Experience scaling ML systems under demanding quality, latency, reliability, and cost constraints.
- Experience shipping research breakthroughs as reliable, production-grade capabilities.
- Experience leading high-impact technical programs across multiple teams and disciplines.
- Staff or Principal-level technical judgment and a strong first-principles mindset.
