Base Salary
$130k - $186k/yr
Responsibilities
- Advise distributed product engineering and enterprise teams on high availability, redundancy, and resilience for SaaS applications.
- Design fast-failover and highly available cloud infrastructure primarily on Google Cloud, with oversight of Azure and AWS workloads.
- Review and validate infrastructure-as-code implementations and guide engineering teams through deployment.
- Design redundancy and self-healing strategies for Google Kubernetes Engine and virtual machine workloads.
- Partner with DevOps, SRE, and Product Engineering teams on resilience engineering, chaos testing, and failover validation.
- Assess database, network, session-management, API gateway, caching, messaging, and CI/CD failure domains.
Requirements
- Deep practical knowledge of Google Cloud core services, especially Google Kubernetes Engine, Compute Engine, and Cloud SQL; AWS and Azure familiarity is preferred.
- Hands-on engineering experience deploying complex infrastructure and guiding implementation teams.
- Demonstrated experience architecting active-active or active-passive fast-failover mechanisms for high-volume, data-intensive SaaS applications.
- Strong understanding of database clustering, replication, migration, and moving legacy Microsoft SQL Server workloads to cloud-native solutions such as Cloud SQL.
- Experience designing highly available network topologies involving load balancing, DNS, firewalls or gateways, identity and authentication systems, and centralized logging or SIEM.
- Deep understanding of user session replication, session persistence, and failover routing in high-traffic, multi-region architectures.
- Strong communication and consulting skills, including the ability to influence teams without direct reporting authority.
