Responsibilities
- Design and present scalable architectures using Mapbox SDKs, APIs, and platform services.
- Lead technical discovery sessions to identify customer goals, challenges, and requirements.
- Build and deliver proof-of-concept solutions demonstrating customer value.
- Partner with Account Executives on technical pre-sales enablement and opportunity development.
- Apply GIS, spatial data processing, and location intelligence expertise to customer problems.
- Collaborate with automotive customers and partners on navigation, ADAS, connected vehicles, and software-defined vehicles.
- Design and validate architectures for real-time telemetry, routing, and EV ecosystem solutions.
- Work with embedded systems, vehicle E/E architectures, and map delivery pipelines.
- Support OEM and Tier-1 supplier integration of Mapbox technologies into in-vehicle systems and connected platforms.
- Communicate with developers, architects, senior decision-makers, and cross-functional teams.
- Provide field feedback and feature requests to influence Mapbox product and engineering roadmaps.
- Define, test, and scale innovative in-vehicle experiences powered by Mapbox.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in solutions architecture, pre-sales engineering, or enterprise consulting with a record of customer-facing success.
- Fluency in Japanese and English, both written and verbal.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience with GIS, location intelligence, geospatial data processing, spatial databases, vector and raster data, geocoding, routing, and map rendering.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms; AWS, Azure, or GCP certification is desirable.
- Required experience with JavaScript; Swift, Kotlin, and Python are highly desirable, while React Native and Flutter are desirable.
- Experience with back-end APIs and front-end SDKs in geospatial and mobility domains.
- Ability to translate complex requirements into scalable, robust architectures aligned with customer objectives.
- Demonstrated solution-selling ability connecting technical architecture to business value, commercial outcomes, and ROI.
- Experience collaborating with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, preferably in navigation, ADAS, connected-vehicle, or software-defined vehicle programs.
- Understanding of automotive software stacks, E/E architectures, and middleware integration.
- Familiarity with vehicle telemetry, map delivery, and over-the-air update workflows.
- Experience with real-time systems, embedded development environments, or automotive cloud connectivity.
- Ability to work within automotive lifecycle processes including requirements management, validation, and homologation.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with technical and executive audiences.
- Willingness to work autonomously and collaborate across distributed, cross-functional teams.
