Base Salary
$120k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain WinDbg, DbgEng, KDNET, and Time Travel Debugging technologies.
- Own major debugging components from architecture and implementation through testing and long-term servicing.
- Build debugger extensibility and APIs for partner teams and the developer community.
- Bring up and validate debugging across Windows and Linux, x64 and ARM64, and new hardware platforms.
- Diagnose and resolve crashes, hangs, memory issues, concurrency issues, and other deep systems-level defects.
- Improve the reliability, performance, and security of debugging tools at scale.
- Advance AI-assisted debugging capabilities and mentor engineers across the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree and 6+ years of experience, or a bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience building debuggers, debugger engines, or systems-level debugging tools.
- Experience with kernel-mode development or operating-system internals on Windows or Linux.
- Familiarity with cross-architecture development across x64 and ARM64.
- Experience with tracing, record/replay, or reverse-debugging technologies.
- Experience improving software reliability, performance, and security at scale.
- Experience delivering large-scale systems software and diagnosing complex defects in operating systems, kernels, drivers, firmware, or debuggers.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
