Base Salary
$190k - $267k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect a modular, easy-to-integrate iOS video player with excellent performance
- Partner with backend media infrastructure and CDN teams to optimize global media delivery
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to execute strategy and build media products and features
- Define engineering standards and recommend best practices that improve developer workflows
- Coach and mentor engineers and support their professional development
- Drive technical and product strategy, operations, architecture, and execution for Reddit’s media experience
- Use AI-assisted development tools for prototyping, system design, and coding while validating and owning the final outputs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent technical expertise
- At least five years of professional software development experience building user-facing native iOS applications at scale with Swift
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to deliver projects on schedule
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a fully remote environment
- Track record of leading projects involving cross-team and cross-functional collaboration
- Knowledge of AVFoundation for video and audio playback, asset management, streaming, editing, and exporting is preferred
- Familiarity with HTTP Live Streaming, MPEG-DASH, MP4, streaming frameworks, and CDN integration is preferred
- Hands-on experience optimizing video-player performance or building products on core media playback components is preferred
- Experience using data and performance metrics to optimize applications is preferred
- Experience building robust, clean, scalable APIs and components for internal engineering teams is preferred
