Base Salary

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing cybersecurity tools and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Design security solutions that enhance protections for newsroom staff.
  • Lead technical projects to scale existing newsroom security tools.
  • Partner with leadership to improve mobile security and digital forensics.
  • Collaborate with newsroom staff to understand security needs.
  • Develop threat models and translate insights into security recommendations.
  • Monitor new technologies and incorporate improvements into security strategies.
  • Travel to domestic and international locations approximately 20% of the time.
  • Contribute to an inclusive and collaborative work environment.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in mobile malware, device security, and risk assessments.
  • Background with mobile threat detection tools, especially for Apple devices.
  • Strong security knowledge balancing engineering and operational needs.
  • Experience in cloud environments like AWS and GCP.
  • Experience with SecureDrop setup and threat modeling.
  • Ability to develop long-term security roadmaps and strategies.
  • Knowledge of securing sensitive data storage solutions.
  • Passion for The New York Times' mission and innovation.
