Base Salary
$155k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Partner with product and design to define and prioritize the applied AI roadmap.
- Design and build permission-aware MCP tools exposing Fora data and service layers with appropriate guardrails.
- Build and harden agent orchestration, including tool-calling loops, streaming responses, multi-step workflows, retries, guardrails, and service contracts.
- Develop evaluations, regression suites, tracing, and event metrics to improve reliability and detect tool-call drift.
- Improve system performance, latency, architecture, and code quality.
- Collaborate on end-to-end solutions spanning AI services, the Django platform, and the portal frontend.
- Own features from design through implementation, delivery, and ongoing improvement.
- Establish patterns, primitives, and best practices for applied AI engineering at Fora.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of backend and frontend development experience.
- At least 3 years of experience with React, Vue.js, or Angular.io.
- At least 3 years of experience with Python using Django, Flask, or an alternative.
- Experience building stateful and event-driven web applications.
- Experience testing web applications.
- Strong API and distributed-systems design skills with solid relational database and ORM fundamentals.
- Curiosity and drive to develop applied AI systems in a rapidly changing field.
- Strong communication, collaboration, teamwork, and comfort with ambiguity.
- Preferred: hands-on experience shipping production LLM-powered features, including MCP tools, agentic loops, structured outputs, streaming, prompt design, retrieval, and evaluations.
- Preferred: familiarity with MCP, LLM provider SDKs such as Anthropic and OpenAI, and agent or evaluation frameworks.
- Preferred: experience with evaluation and observability for non-deterministic AI systems.
- Preferred: daily use of AI coding tools.
- Preferred: experience with asynchronous task and streaming infrastructure such as Celery, Redis, or RabbitMQ.
- Preferred: AWS and Kubernetes experience.
