Responsibilities
- Lead on-call response, triage, incident communications, escalation paths, and 24x7 response processes.
- Define and refine SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs for critical services and manage error practices, monitoring, and alerting.
- Design and implement observability platforms using metrics, structured logging, and distributed tracing.
- Drive toil reduction, automation, chaos engineering, postmortems, and corrective action tracking.
- Build runbooks, production-readiness reviews, launch checklists, and on-call rotation practices.
- Champion SRE principles, mentor team members, contribute to roadmap planning, and evaluate technologies.
- Own database scaling, performance, high availability, failover, capacity planning, load testing, and benchmarking.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in database scaling, performance and reliability, and connection pool optimization.
- At least 5 years of experience designing database high availability and failover strategies.
- At least 3 years of hands-on Site Reliability Engineering experience, including SLO ownership and error budget management.
- At least 4 years of cloud platform experience, with GCP CloudSQL required.
- Experience with database capacity planning, load testing, performance benchmarking at scale, and systems such as PostgreSQL and Redis.
- A CS degree or equivalent experience.
- Preferred qualifications include knowledge of Google SRE principles, HTTP, distributed-system latency diagnosis, automated deployments, customer-facing production issue resolution, Terraform, AWS CDK, Python, Shell, Kubernetes, networking, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, PagerDuty, and OpsGenie.
