Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and implementation of scalable, maintainable, reliable, and distributed software systems.
- Make technical decisions, provide direction to engineers and stakeholders, and review architecture, technical designs, and code.
- Identify technical debt and drive improvements in reliability, performance, developer productivity, and engineering maturity.
- Champion AI-first and agentic workflows for coding, testing, debugging, documentation, code reviews, and engineering automation.
- Establish engineering best practices across development, testing, deployment, observability, and production operations.
- Mentor engineers and coach team members on software design, coding standards, system thinking, and engineering practices.
- Work with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including data modelling, indexing, query optimization, transactions, and performance.
- Collaborate with Data and Analytics teams on solutions requiring strong data foundations.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience with technical ownership of systems or products.
- Strong understanding of software design principles, SOLID principles, design patterns, and clean architecture.
- Strong programming fundamentals and experience with at least one modern programming language.
- Experience designing and building scalable, distributed, and production-grade applications.
- Strong understanding of API design, system integration, testing, CI/CD, and cloud-based systems.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence engineering practices across a team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
- Strong interest in Generative AI, AI agents, agentic workflows, and AI-first engineering practices.
- Experience using AI coding assistants and/or AI agents in day-to-day software development.
- Good understanding of databases and data modelling is advantageous.
