Responsibilities
- Own the common runtime and libraries used by firmware teams, including logging, telemetry, IPC, and configuration, across MCU-based systems and Linux targets.
- Own the build system, cross-compile toolchain, and SDK for fast, reproducible, hermetic builds across shipped targets.
- Design and maintain stable interfaces for teams building on the platform.
- Resolve ambiguous problems at the boundary between the platform and its consumer teams.
- Drive compute, memory, and bandwidth resource trade-offs between competing subsystems.
- Raise firmware engineering standards through patterns, code review, and mentoring.
Requirements
- Mastery of embedded C on shipped products across MCU/RTOS and embedded Linux environments.
- Experience building and maintaining platform code, libraries, SDKs, or protocols used by multiple engineering teams.
- Hands-on ownership of embedded build systems, cross-compilation, dependency management, and reproducible builds.
- Track record of resolving problems spanning team or subsystem boundaries through shipment.
- Strong judgment around compute, memory, and bandwidth trade-offs on resource-constrained hardware.
- Advanced debugging ability and a history of solving difficult firmware bugs.
- Must remain hands-on and continue shipping code.
- Preferred experience includes Bazel for embedded or cross-compiled targets, embedded Linux internals such as kernel, BSPs, Yocto, or Buildroot, flight stacks such as Betaflight or PX4, DSP, communications, RF-adjacent firmware, visible open-source systems work, or flying FPV, RC, or drones.
