Base Salary

$164k - $229k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain the autonomy runtime and middleware integration layer, including module interfaces, inter-process communication, process and thread structure, message passing, and execution rates.
  • Own real-time scheduling, latency accounting, deadline monitoring, and end-to-end sensor-to-actuator latency measurement on target hardware.
  • Design and implement high-rate on-vehicle logging with ring buffers, triggered capture, multi-sensor and video streams, storage and bandwidth budgeting, and log integrity verification.
  • Implement hardware timestamping and time synchronization across sensors, mission compute, and flight controllers while representing clock domains and synchronization state in logged data.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop bench infrastructure and field flight tests, and resolve timing, logging, and integration defects using flight data.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience developing production embedded, robotics, or real-time software on systems operating outside a laboratory.
  • Demonstrated delivery of software to a physical vehicle or embedded platform through bring-up, integration, and field operation.
  • Expert proficiency in modern C++ on embedded Linux and working proficiency in Python for tooling, analysis, and automation.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics or vehicle runtime and middleware layers, including inter-process communication, message passing, module interfaces, process and thread structure, and execution scheduling.
  • Deep experience with real-time scheduling policies, CPU affinity and isolation, lock-free or zero-copy data paths, jitter and deadline analysis, and target-hardware latency measurement.
  • Experience building high-rate vehicle data logging without degrading control-loop timing.
  • Experience implementing time synchronization and hardware timestamping using PTP, gPTP, PPS, sensor trigger lines, or equivalent approaches.
  • Experience developing and debugging camera and inertial sensor drivers and data paths across interfaces such as MIPI CSI-2, GMSL, USB3 Vision, GigE Vision, SPI, or I2C.
  • Unmanned aircraft experience with PX4, ArduPilot, MAVLink, flight-controller integration, arming logic, flight modes, and failsafe behavior is preferred.
  • Experience with thermal or non-visible imaging payloads, hardware-in-the-loop benches, automated release gating, deterministic log replay, log schema and provenance, versioning, or RTK GNSS post-processing is preferred.

Benefits

  • The role offers a US base salary range of $163,500–$228,500, with highly competitive equity grants considered part of total compensation.
  • The position includes hands-on support for field flight tests and hardware-in-the-loop operations.

About Neros Technologies

51-200 employees

Neros Technologies designs and manufactures high-performance unmanned systems—air vehicles, autonomy software, and related strike and sensing payloads—for U.S. and allied defense customers. The privately held company, founded in 2023 and headquartered in Los Angeles, focuses on combat-tested drones built and iterated at scale to close the gap between design and deployment. Its work spans GPS-denied navigation, state estimation, guidance, and manufacturing to help rebuild the U.S. drone industrial base.
