Base Salary

$155k - $223k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and build the shared platform framework and common services used by Cisco IQ teams.
  • Develop the on-premises appliance platform deployed in customer data centers.
  • Implement scalable, event-driven architectures and Kafka data pipelines.
  • Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and postmortems.
  • Conduct research spikes on new technologies and alternative system designs.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, SRE, Experience Reliability Engineering, and technical deployment leads.
  • Mentor more junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent technical degree such as Mathematics or Physics.
  • Five years of related professional engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, three years with a master's degree, or zero years with a PhD.
  • Programming experience in Go, Java, or C/C++.
  • Experience with debugging, unit testing, event-driven architecture, and Kafka-based data pipelines.
  • Experience with SaaS enterprise software or cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Preferred: master's degree in computer science or a related field with three or more years of related experience.
  • Preferred: experience designing scalable and highly available software systems, data structures and algorithms, service-oriented architecture, distributed teams, and MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.

Benefits

  • Hybrid work arrangement in San Jose, California, requiring two to three days per week in the office.
  • Base salary range of $155,000 to $222,600 for U.S. and/or Canada locations, excluding incentive compensation, equity, and benefits.

  • Potential Cisco restricted stock unit grants.
