Base Salary
$185k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Harden the cloud event pipeline with consumer reliability, delivery and ordering guarantees, replay, idempotency, dead-letter handling, and schema or contract enforcement.
- Build reliable dispatch paths to agent and computer-vision workflows and expose event projections through MCP and agent-facing query interfaces.
- Scale operational hot stores and cold lakehouse capture while keeping projections appropriate for their access patterns and rebuildable from the log.
- Own dashboards, alerting, feature flags, and other observability and operability signals for the pipeline.
- Partner with edge, data, infrastructure and operations, agent, and computer-vision engineering teams.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience building and operating backend or distributed systems in production at scale.
- Strong systems and API design experience, including hands-on Kafka or comparable log or streaming systems and knowledge of topic, partition, consumer-group, delivery-guarantee, replay, and schema-registry concepts.
- Experience hardening production services with SLOs, metrics, alerting, dead-letter and failure handling, and on-call operational trade-offs.
- Experience selecting and operating document or relational hot stores and object-storage or lakehouse systems for cold and analytical access patterns.
- Strong Go and/or Python skills and experience building APIs and large-scale backend services.
- Experience with AWS and Kubernetes and a preference for open, cloud-portable components.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience includes agent-facing or MCP data-access layers, agent or CV runtime integrations, Benthos/Bento or Flink, protobuf or Avro, schema registries, Iceberg, S3, CDC, MQTT, and EMQX or comparable IoT ingestion systems.
