Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of modular, maintainable, and high-performance Android Automotive infotainment applications.
- Architect and integrate media, navigation, user profile, and distributed playback solutions across automotive platforms.
- Develop modules that communicate with VHAL and other HALs using AIDL and HIDL.
- Integrate applications with Android system services and vendor-specific frameworks.
- Debug and optimize issues across application, framework, and HAL layers.
- Collaborate with platform, hardware, and QA teams on integration and validation.
- Mentor junior developers and enforce architecture, code quality, and testing best practices.
- Create and present architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and implementation documentation.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience is stated, with the posting also describing an expected 8–14 years of Android development experience and a minimum of 12 years in infotainment and telematics.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Java, Kotlin, and C++ including C++14/17.
- Deep knowledge of Android SDK, Android NDK, Jetpack libraries, and MVVM architecture.
- Experience with Android Activities, Services, Broadcast Receivers, and Content Providers.
- Hands-on experience with AIDL, HIDL, VHAL, HAL-to-application communication, AAOS car services, and infotainment integration.
- Experience with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, CAN, media applications, phone applications, navigation applications, and cloud communication.
- Understanding of partitioning concepts and cross-partition communication.
- Proficiency in unit testing, instrumentation testing, and mocking frameworks.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD workflows, adb, logcat, Perfetto, and Systrace.
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety, ASPICE, ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity, TARA, and secure communication practices.
- Experience in automotive or embedded Android application development is preferred.
