Base Salary
$160k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and improve backend systems including REST APIs, microservices, data ingestion and processing systems, and distributed task-processing systems.
- Write and maintain scalable, performant, secure, and reusable code.
- Contribute to product direction and improve core backend systems.
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, processes, and security.
- Practice test-driven development and automated testing.
- Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
- Participate in on-call rotations to resolve critical technical issues.
- Apply OWASP Top 10 techniques to protect code from vulnerabilities.
- Follow information-security policies and report suspected security or policy violations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- At least five years of experience building scalable web applications.
- Experience or strong interest in developing applications with Node.js.
- Experience designing and implementing highly available distributed systems and microservices.
- Experience building platforms that expose scalable backend APIs.
- Deep experience with relational databases; Postgres is preferred.
- Understanding of monitoring and alerting platforms is a plus.
- Commitment to high code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
- Strong attention to detail, correctness, collaboration, communication, and ability to work through ambiguity.
