Base Salary
$230k - $286k/yr
Responsibilities
- Partner with engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI components for foundation model training, LLM inference, agents, similarity search, guardrails, evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability.
- Develop optimization techniques and orchestration pipelines for large-scale production AI systems, integrating LLMs, vector search, and domain-specific models.
- Lead cost-performance governance by tracking GPU utilization, model throughput, inference cost, scalability, latency, and accuracy.
- Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap for foundational AI systems.
- Lead design councils and review boards to promote technical consistency and compliance with AI engineering standards.
- Mentor Principal- and Manager-level AI engineers and promote cross-domain technical development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a master’s degree in one of these fields plus at least 4 years of such experience.
- At least 6 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.
- Experience leading AI system development with cost, latency, throughput, and accuracy tradeoffs.
- Preferred: 7+ years deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or an equivalent private cloud.
- Preferred: experience with LLM inference, similarity search, VectorDBs, guardrails, memory, agentic AI systems, model optimization, model compression, and hardware utilization.
- Preferred: experience architecting unified production pipelines containing rule-based, retrieval-augmented, and generative components.
- Preferred: experience defining ethical AI standards involving explainability, fairness, and human-in-the-loop review.
- Preferred: ability to right-size models, instance counts, and hardware based on context length and token requirements.
- Preferred: excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to apply current AI research to production systems.
