Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code for Joist web client-side applications.
- Contribute to solutions from inception through deployment while supporting rapid iteration and innovation.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Write clean, maintainable code and participate actively in code reviews.
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs, develop mitigation solutions, and document work for team knowledge sharing.
- Independently learn existing codebases, ask clarifying questions, take ownership of assigned work, and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Broaden development experience and potentially contribute to other platforms.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience developing frontend applications using JavaScript, ideally React.
- Strong JavaScript fundamentals, including common data structures.
- Proficiency with semantic HTML and CSS, including preprocessors such as Sass.
- Experience with component libraries or UI frameworks such as Material UI.
- Experience with unit and component testing tools such as Jest or React Testing Library.
- Strong communication and effective collaboration skills with Product, Design, and Engineering.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Experience using LLM tooling such as Claude or ChatGPT to assist with work.
- Bonus: experience with Redux or Redux Toolkit, TypeScript, Storybook, Figma, Playwright, or backend/full-stack development.
- Must be eligible to work without sponsorship.
