Software Engineer III -Java, AWS/EMR
JPMorgan ChaseResponsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain secure, high-quality production software and algorithms.
- Own multi-sprint outcomes from requirements and design through implementation, testing, documentation, release, and production support.
- Lead component and service-level API design, including compatibility, performance, scaling, caching, concurrency, and reliability tradeoffs.
- Set engineering standards for clean code, reviews, testing, and maintainable design while driving adoption across the team.
- Define test strategies and improve CI/CD safety, static analysis, automation, and regression prevention.
- Improve observability and reliability signals, participate in incident response and root-cause analyses, and implement resiliency improvements.
- Embed secure coding, access control, dependency hygiene, data handling, risk controls, and disciplined change management into delivery.
- Use and evaluate enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation in a secure and responsible manner.
- Partner with Product, QA, SRE/Production Engineering, Security, and adjacent engineering teams to align outcomes and influence technical direction.
- Mentor engineers, support hiring and technical evaluations, and drive continuous improvement in team practices.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, and/or GC, including building and operating cloud services.
- At least 5 years of experience with a core language such as Java, Kotlin, Python, or TypeScript, plus strong computer science fundamentals.
- Experience designing and building APIs and services with practical knowledge of performance, scaling, caching, and concurrency.
- Strong unit, integration, and contract testing, CI/CD, code review, and automation practices.
- Experience with observability, production support or on-call participation, incident triage, and root-cause analysis.
- Strong security and risk/control awareness, including secure coding, access control, dependency hygiene, data handling, and change management.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across multiple stakeholders and drive alignment and execution.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and validating their outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Understanding of the software development life cycle and agile methodologies.
- Preferred experience leading technical design reviews, influencing architecture, improving reliability and deployment outcomes, mentoring or coaching, and participating in hiring processes.
