Responsibilities
- Build end-to-end product features in a Next.js and React application, including server components, route handlers, client interactivity, and the data layer.
- Develop and extend shared component libraries, design tokens, accessible component APIs, responsive themes, and light/dark designs based on Figma specifications.
- Own the web server tier for request proxying, session handling, credential protection, and backend service integration.
- Implement OIDC login, JWT verification, session expiry, role-based access control, and permission-aware UI gating.
- Maintain the OpenAPI-generated TypeScript SDK, code-generation pipeline, compatibility gates, and API drift detection.
- Collaborate with backend teams to define efficient API contracts and resolve response-shape issues.
- Build data-layer capabilities including caching, invalidation, optimistic updates, pagination, and loading and error states.
- Write component, unit, network-mocked, and Playwright end-to-end tests against live environments.
- Improve accessibility, web performance, bundle size, rendering cost, streaming, and route delivery.
- Instrument the application with error tracking, analytics, feature flags, and structured logging.
- Review code, debug production issues to root cause, add regression coverage, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep production experience in TypeScript and modern React paradigms.
- Mastery of Next.js architecture, including server/client component boundaries, caching strategies, and server-side rendering.
- Full-stack experience owning secure server-side code and API proxies in addition to browser-based logic.
- Practical experience implementing OAuth2/OIDC flows, JWT verification, secure cookie and session management, and role-based access control.
- Strong understanding of complex application state, including synchronization between server state and client UI updates.
- Experience with CSS architecture, utility-first CSS, scalable theming, headless primitives, and accessible component APIs.
- Testing experience across unit, component, and end-to-end layers, including network mocking and CI integration.
- Experience working in a monorepo with shared packages and a task-graph build system.
- Strong production experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, Tailwind CSS, testing tools, and web-tier authentication.
- Clear written English for design documentation, code reviews, and asynchronous collaboration.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or 10 years of related experience.
- Preferred experience includes Kubernetes or cloud infrastructure products, GPU or AI/ML platform interfaces, YAML editors, geospatial visualization, animation, web performance optimization, feature-flag experimentation, design-system ownership, OpenTelemetry, structured client-side logging, Go, and CNCF or React/TypeScript open-source contributions.
