Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and evolve backend services and APIs with Python and FastAPI.
- Build and operate a communications dispatch service integrating message queues and Braze or other external APIs.
- Integrate Azure services, databases, third-party APIs, and data processes running on Databricks.
- Design and maintain Azure SQL persistence solutions, including data modeling, migrations, data integrity, and query optimization.
- Ensure production reliability and observability through monitoring, tracing, automated testing, and failure recovery.
- Collaborate with development, data, and IT/DevOps teams on architecture, integrations, CI/CD pipelines, and deployments.
- Maintain clear and current technical documentation.
Requirements
- Require 3–5 years of backend development experience building, integrating, and operating production services.
- Require strong Python skills and experience building APIs with FastAPI or equivalent frameworks.
- Require experience with modular software design, SOLID principles, separation of concerns, and automated testing.
- Require experience integrating APIs and distributed systems, including authentication, error handling, timeouts, retries, and resiliency patterns.
- Require experience with asynchronous processing, queues, dead-letter handling, and idempotency, such as Azure Service Bus or equivalents.
- Require strong SQL and relational database skills covering modeling, querying, migrations, and ORMs; SQL Server or Azure SQL is preferred.
- Require experience with Docker and deploying containerized services.
- Require hands-on cloud experience, preferably with Microsoft Azure, including monitoring, Git version control, and CI/CD processes.
- Prefer experience with Azure Databricks or other data-processing platforms, Kubernetes/AKS, Azure Container Registry, and Braze or similar customer engagement platforms.
