Responsibilities
- Design, develop, debug, and maintain scalable Java backend applications.
- Design the Oracle database storage schema for a new application.
- Support planning and execution of a future MySQL-to-Oracle migration.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries and troubleshoot complex application and database issues in production.
- Support backup, restore, high availability, disaster recovery, failover, and low-downtime production database operations.
- Write and maintain unit tests using JUnit and Mockito.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on technical design and implementation decisions and lead technical discussions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for project activities.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building, debugging, and optimizing scalable Java backend applications.
- Strong proficiency in Java 8–17, object-oriented design, design patterns, multithreading, and concurrency.
- Production Oracle development experience and strong knowledge of indexing, query optimization, partitioning, replication, and transaction behavior.
- Advanced SQL skills, including performance troubleshooting.
- Experience with production database operations, including backup/restore, high availability, disaster recovery, failover, and minimal-downtime changes.
- Experience writing unit tests with JUnit and Mockito.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP, and Kubernetes or similar orchestration tools.
- Hands-on Linux/Unix experience and scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical tasks, and proactively resolve blockers.
- Strong communication skills, cross-functional Scrum collaboration experience, and experience leading technical discussions.
- Upper-Intermediate or higher English proficiency.
- Desirable qualifications include production Oracle DBA experience, Oracle version upgrades or large-scale database migration experience, Oracle certification, Groovy, Gradle, and CI/CD pipeline experience.
