Responsibilities
- Own ML projects end-to-end from exploration through production deployment and ongoing iteration.
- Build reliable agentic LLM systems using multi-step workflows, tool use, retrieval, and orchestration for clinical settings.
- Develop evaluation datasets, offline and online harnesses, LLM-as-judge pipelines with human review, and regression tests.
- Improve model quality through prompting, retrieval, distillation, or fine-tuning based on evidence.
- Work across data preparation, model adaptation, serving, monitoring, and production feedback loops.
- Partner with Product, Clinical, and Engineering stakeholders to translate clinical requirements into technical decisions.
- Review code, share knowledge, and mentor less experienced engineers.
Requirements
- Experience shipping production ML systems that people depend on.
- Hands-on production experience with LLM prompting, retrieval, tool calling, and agent-style workflows.
- Experience building evaluation datasets and frameworks and distinguishing meaningful improvements from noise.
- Strong ML fundamentals and the ability to reason about technical tradeoffs.
- Ability to turn ambiguous problems into production systems.
- Production-quality engineering skills, familiarity with distributed systems, and experience debugging complex ML pipelines.
- Clear communication with technical and clinical stakeholders.
- Preferred: experience with fine-tuning or preference optimization such as RLHF or DPO.
- Preferred: experience in healthcare AI or other high-stakes domains.
- Preferred: experience building agent frameworks or evaluation tooling from scratch.
- Preferred: open-source contributions, technical writing, or other knowledge-sharing experience.
- At least Level 1 AI proficiency, demonstrating daily use of AI to improve personal productivity.
