Responsibilities
- Design and build high-quality, scalable, low- and zero-GC JVM services and APIs.
- Translate risk models and complex business requirements into well-tested implementations.
- Collaborate with quantitative analysts and product teams on financial products and risk models.
- Optimize and refactor the codebase to improve testing, performance, and maintainability.
- Promote code quality, engineering best practices, and a performance-focused development culture.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers through pairing, collaboration, and code reviews.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience as a Java backend engineer.
- Expert Java proficiency and hands-on experience architecting highly performant, low-latency systems.
- In-depth knowledge of testing methodologies, including TDD, back testing, and stress testing.
- Knowledge of API design, clean code, DRY principles, and microservices.
- Experience with tools including Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial products, risk models, and methodologies such as SPAN and VaR.
- Exceptional mathematical and analytical skills.
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Familiarity with event-sourced architectures, columnar storage or databases, cloud technologies, Chronicle Queue, and Kotlin is preferred.
- Experience mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior engineers is preferred.
