$202k - $224k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design and execution of core backend platform services and extensible APIs.
- Design workflow orchestration across complex, multi-tiered downstream service dependencies.
- Implement distributed caching strategies to improve latency and load across high-concurrency microservices.
- Define service metrics, operational telemetry, dashboards, and multi-tiered alerting for reliability.
- Partner with product managers and engineering teams to establish technical standards, align API contracts, and deliver technical roadmaps.
- Manage technical initiatives and engineering projects supporting Uber Eats’ global delivery marketplace.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional full-time software engineering experience building scalable backend platforms.
- Strong proficiency in modern backend languages, preferably Go, Java, C++, or Python.
- Deep understanding of high-throughput, low-latency microservice architectures, gRPC/Protobuf protocols, and backend APIs.
- Hands-on expertise with advanced caching mechanisms, concurrency control, and distributed state management.
- Preferred experience designing workflow orchestration engines or managing intricate multi-service dependencies.
- Familiarity with geospatial indexing, mapping, or geofencing libraries such as H3 or S2Cell.
- Experience with telemetry, distributed tracing, performance monitoring, and high-concurrency production incidents.
- Ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives and deliver multi-phase engineering projects.
- Exposure to large-scale data engineering pipelines or foundational machine learning concepts.
