Forward Deployed Engineer

- Embed with application teams to provide hands-on technical leadership for application modernization, re-platforming, microservices adoption, and AWS cloud-native delivery.
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted software development practices and the AI Modernization Factory’s tools and processes.
- Identify technical and process bottlenecks, recommend and implement solutions, and manage the people and process aspects of technical change.
- Make significant code contributions, establish architectural scaffolding, build CI/CD pipelines, implement Terraform infrastructure, and resolve blocking integration issues.
- Relay practical challenges, tool deficiencies, and process feedback to the central Principal Engineer and Architect.
- Ensure teams follow engineering standards, Twelve-Factor App principles, DevSecOps practices, and high-quality coding standards.
- Train, mentor, and upskill team members while building rapport with diverse engineering teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive software engineering experience focused on enterprise applications and application modernization.
- Strong hands-on full-stack experience across frontend, backend, databases, and infrastructure.
- Expert proficiency in one or more modern languages such as Python, TypeScript, C#, or Java.
- Deep practical experience building and deploying scalable applications on AWS and strong proficiency with Terraform.
- Proven ability to assess technical landscapes and team dynamics, influence direction without formal authority, and drive organizational or process change.
- Hands-on mastery of CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, and DevSecOps practices.
- Understanding of microservices, serverless, event-driven architecture, and Domain-Driven Design.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, listening, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Preferred qualifications include consulting, Staff Engineer, or Forward Deployed experience; software engineer training or mentoring experience; experience with React, NextJS, Cursor, Claude Code, Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS Lambda.
