Responsibilities
- Collaborate across the organization to translate business priorities into shipped features.
- Generate clean, efficient, and well-documented software following industry best practices.
- Provide leadership and technical guidance for resilient, scalable SaaS applications.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues.
- Mentor and guide junior software engineers.
- Contribute to OpenGov’s Engineering culture of innovation and quality.
- Cultivate customer empathy to exceed customer expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement of development processes and tools.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate for their adoption.
Requirements
- Thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth, ambiguous environment.
- Demonstrated experience in working with customers to improve product experiences.
- Experience working across the stack (frontend + backend) and shipping features end-to-end.
- Experience building with AI-driven UX, agents, and workflow automation.
- BA/BS in a computer science-related field or equivalent experience required.
- 9+ years of experience in developing highly scalable cloud-native applications.
- Deep experience building applications on Azure or AWS using CI/CD and DevOps best practices.
- Prior experience in building applications leveraging modern tools like Grafana.
- Hands-on coding proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, NodeJS, Python, Java, or C/C++.
- Proficiency with event-driven architecture, API integration, and GraphQL is a MUST.
- Hands-on usage of Claude or Cursor is a MUST; Copilot is acceptable.
- Understanding of AI concepts like skills, sub-agents, commands, and rules is required.
- Hands-on knowledge of Playwright or K6 is a good to have.
