Responsibilities
- Deliver large projects across billing and financial workflows and maintain key code repositories.
- Design and evolve reliable backend services, APIs, data models, billing flows, payment-model changes, payer integrations, and financial data workflows.
- Establish durable workflows, idempotent processing, strong validation, clear data ownership, audit signals, and operational visibility.
- Investigate incidents and data discrepancies, identify root causes, and improve system maintainability, availability, performance, and observability.
- Collaborate with Product, Finance, Operations, Data, and partner engineering teams on requirements, roadmap strategy, and technical trade-offs.
- Develop developer tooling and operational runbooks, document technical decisions and workflows, and support production systems through a weekly on-call rotation.
- Mentor and support junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, design feedback, and knowledge sharing.
- Use AI technologies to automate engineering and operational processes while preserving appropriate review and control for financial workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of non-internship, full-time professional software development experience.
- At least 2 years of experience with one or more programming languages and at least 2 years across the full software development lifecycle.
- Experience delivering large software projects or production features.
- Proficiency in a modern programming language such as Golang, Python, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience designing and operating backend services, APIs, data models, and asynchronous or distributed workflows.
- Experience with relational databases and integrations where data integrity, failure handling, and observability are important.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate technical trade-offs clearly.
- Preferred experience with billing, payments, revenue, accounting, claims, or other financial systems.
- Preferred familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, workflow orchestration, scalable cloud services, data quality, incident response, developer tooling, mentoring, and AI technologies.
