Base Salary

$144k - $194k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate scalable, low-latency, highly available services powering Sub-Same-Day delivery promises.
  • Own features through requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operations.
  • Lead design discussions and independently align with partner teams across promise, transportation, and search.
  • Maintain operational excellence through monitoring, alarming, on-call support, defect reduction, and ticket reduction.
  • Investigate edge cases, testing, canary deployments, metrics, dashboards, and safe production rollouts.
  • Identify and mitigate risks while clearly communicating progress, blockers, and tradeoffs.
  • Mentor SDE-1s and junior engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance.
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap and continuous improvement of delivery systems.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • At least 2 years of non-internship experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
  • At least 1 year of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
  • At least 1 year designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, or services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
  • At least 1 year of object-oriented design experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  • Preferred: at least 3 years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Preferred: bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
