Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver scalable, maintainable, secure, and high-performing mainframe software solutions.
- Provide technical leadership through solution and design reviews, implementation guidance, and support for delivery teams across multiple workstreams.
- Debug applications, optimize performance, support production stability, and manage software changes.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, stakeholders, and external partners to define requirements and align solutions with business objectives.
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, knowledge sharing, and technology communities.
- Contribute to mainframe modernization, API enablement, automation, DevOps practices, and continuous improvement.
- Manage and mitigate risks while strengthening controls related to the team’s work.
Requirements
- Strong proven experience in mainframe application design, development, and technical leadership.
- Deep expertise in COBOL, JCL, IMS/DB/DC, DB2, VSAM, CICS, TWS scheduling, stored procedures, and REXX.
- Strong understanding of mainframe debugging, performance optimization, and change-management tooling, including Endeavor, Abend-Aid, File-Aid, and DB2 Platinum.
- Ability to review and assure solution and design quality, guide complex large-scale implementations, and unblock delivery teams.
- Strong understanding of performance engineering and production stability considerations.
- Experience with mainframe DevOps practices, toolchains, and automated delivery pipelines is valued.
- Exposure to mainframe automation, modernization, next-generation engineering practices, and DevOps-driven engineering enablement is valued.
- Strong banking or financial-services domain knowledge is valued.
- Ability to demonstrate risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, and job-specific technical skills.
