Base Salary
$115k - $195k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, optimize, and scale database technologies across multi-cloud and on-premises environments.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers.
- Create and modify indexes and optimize execution plans for database performance.
- Develop, maintain, and validate backup, restore, disaster recovery, and failover procedures, including RTO/RPO compliance.
- Monitor database performance, analyze metrics, and implement tuning strategies.
- Collaborate with developers and architects on efficient data models and schemas.
- Implement database security, access controls, encryption, authentication, and compliance practices.
- Manage database migrations, upgrades, version control, replication, clustering, and connectivity troubleshooting.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional database engineering experience.
- Expert-level Microsoft SQL Server knowledge, including T-SQL, index strategies, execution plan optimization, Always-On Availability Groups, mirroring, log shipping, backup and restore strategies, recovery models, and point-in-time recovery.
- Strong PostgreSQL experience and hands-on experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
- Strong experience managing databases on AWS RDS and Aurora.
- Proficiency in backup and restore, recovery models, and disaster recovery planning.
- Knowledge of database security, encryption, authentication, and compliance standards.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Microsoft Azure certifications, AWS or Microsoft Azure certifications, Infrastructure-as-Code experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager, ETL and data pipeline familiarity, database monitoring experience, high-availability and replication knowledge, CI/CD and automated testing familiarity, and Agile/DevOps environment experience are preferred.
