Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test scalable, reliable software for a high-volume, high-availability payment platform.
- Modernize a complex monolithic application while identifying opportunities to build scalable services.
- Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions in collaboration with Product, Platform, Merchant Services, and Support teams.
- Deploy production features with zero platform downtime and no impact to active customers.
- Apply Java, SQL, relational data modeling, and database schema design expertise to payment and e-commerce product development.
- Participate in pair programming, test-driven development, and collaborative Agile engineering practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
- 7+ years of relevant Java software engineering experience, excluding internships.
- Exceptional Java, SQL, software design, relational data modeling, and database schema design skills.
- Ability to understand business goals, derive requirements, and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ability to adapt to changing business priorities and contexts.
- Preferred experience includes microservices, globally distributed services, 24/7 support, RESTful API design, Kubernetes, Kafka, AWS, OpenShift, observability, resilient platforms, and high-volume transactional systems.
- Preferred tooling experience includes Ansible, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Harness, Snyk, SonarQ, Cucumber, Karate, Splunk, Sysdig, OpsGenie, OpenTelemetry, Instaclustr, Prometheus, JBehave, JGiven, Xmatters, ServiceNow, JUnit, and TDD.
