Base Salary
$94k - $142k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and develop efficient, reusable, reliable Java code for high-volume, low-latency applications.
- Architect RESTful APIs and scalable backend services using Spring and Spring Boot.
- Translate business and user requirements into technical specifications, low-level designs, and solution architecture artifacts.
- Evaluate and champion emerging technologies and frameworks that improve the application stack.
- Build and maintain unit, integration, and performance test automation.
- Lead peer code reviews and establish high engineering standards.
- Own production systems, including diagnosing and resolving critical issues.
- Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and senior engineers to deliver software and maintain technical documentation standards.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional Java development experience with substantial exposure to cloud-based environments and distributed systems.
- Expertise in Java, RESTful API design, cloud engineering principles, Spring, and Spring Boot.
- Database experience with Oracle, SQL, and MongoDB.
- Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, MQ, and Kafka.
- Strong understanding of clean code, design patterns, and test-driven development.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, the software development lifecycle, and CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tooling.
- Ability to lead technical delivery autonomously, manage competing priorities, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Financial services and payments-processing experience is beneficial.
- Familiarity with generative AI and large language models is beneficial.
- Experience integrating mainframe systems with event-driven or API-based architectures using Kafka is beneficial.
- Subject matter expertise in a critical applications-development area is beneficial.
