Responsibilities
- Monitor production availability and overall system health while measuring customer experience and key performance indicators.
- Create and implement observability dashboards using monitoring and observability tools.
- Handle incidents, perform root cause analysis, participate in blameless postmortems, and implement post-incident improvements.
- Develop scripts and automation to eliminate toil, resolve issues, and manage infrastructure.
- Optimize system reliability, quality, performance, and time-to-market for software solutions.
- Set up required tools and infrastructure and support continuous integration, continuous development, and deployment pipelines.
- Recreate client issues in test environments and document application and system interactions.
- Troubleshoot networking, application, and live-system issues and prepare technical specifications and documentation.
- Manage reliability risks and provide periodic progress reports to management.
Requirements
- Four to six years of relevant experience is required.
- Experience supporting live systems or troubleshooting software in a business setting.
- Experience supporting Unix, Linux, or Windows-based application environments.
- Knowledge of an RDBMS or NoSQL database technology.
- Experience with system and application monitoring and observability tools, including Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, or Dynatrace.
- Hands-on experience preparing PowerShell, Python, or Shell automation scripts.
- Experience with containers, Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift and exposure to SRE, cloud, and DevOps technologies.
- Experience using Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure automation.
- Knowledge of networking concepts, OSI and TCP/IP layers, protocols, and network troubleshooting.
- Experience working with distributed systems is desirable; financial markets knowledge is also desirable.
- Fluent spoken and written English and the ability to work flexibly with cross-functional teams.
