Base Salary
$126k - $238k/yr
Responsibilities
- Independently manage assigned software systems through strategic direction, technical design, implementation, and operational health.
- Architect, design, and develop Rust software supporting genomics analysis at scale.
- Develop and optimize algorithms using profiling and deep Rust expertise.
- Serve as a technical thought leader and technology advocate, guiding application strategy and future development.
- Analyze scientific data to identify problems, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Contribute to open-source software development through active community management and engagement.
- Mentor and guide staff, support continuous learning, and coordinate with senior leadership and multidisciplinary teams.
- Prepare scientific manuscripts and presentations and maintain regular, predictable attendance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, information science, business, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
- A bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or a master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience qualifies for the Senior Staff level.
- A bachelor's degree with 12+ years of relevant experience or a master's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience qualifies for the Principal level.
- Deep proficiency in Rust, algorithm development, optimization through profiling, and software development with strong documentation and testing.
- Experience with programming languages, databases, and the software development lifecycle.
- Substantial or significant experience in a technical and/or scientific domain and proven performance or leadership in a comparable role.
- Bioinformatics or genomics experience is not required.
