Responsibilities
- Design and implement RESTful APIs using the OpenAPI specification.
- Build production services in Go and progressively replace legacy Perl and C components.
- Contribute to the domain-specific language replacing Kornshell-based workflows, including scripting via Python or Lua.
- Use AI tools for code generation, analysis, testing, documentation, and legacy code comprehension within enterprise guardrails.
- Maintain and extend existing Perl codebases during the modernization process.
- Design services for deployment across major cloud providers and on-premises infrastructure.
- Participate in pair programming, design discussions, and code reviews focused on clean, testable code and incremental delivery.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Go or Perl, with willingness to develop proficiency in both.
- Experience designing or consuming REST APIs using OpenAPI or Swagger.
- Solid understanding of unit and integration testing practices.
- Comfort working with Linux, particularly RedHat, and ideally exposure to UNIX systems such as AIX.
- Experience incrementally modernizing legacy systems while keeping production operations functional.
- Pragmatic experience determining where AI-assisted development adds value.
- Experience with agile software development practices such as Scrum or Kanban.
