Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end solution architecture across discovery, design, delivery, and operational readiness.
  • Design and implement scalable platform infrastructure, APIs, microservices, data pipelines, and shared services.
  • Own client-facing architecture activities, including workshops, technical presentations, approvals, and solution delivery.
  • Define partner integration architectures, API contracts, data models, authentication strategies, error handling, and versioning.
  • Lead Discovery and Delivery Tracks, translating validated discovery outcomes into production backlogs and implementations.
  • Write production code, build prototypes and reference implementations, participate in code reviews, and solve complex technical problems.
  • Define architecture standards, reusable patterns, non-functional requirements, quality gates, and risk mitigations.
  • Mentor engineers and architects on architecture practices, infrastructure patterns, AI-assisted development, and platform best practices.
  • Contribute to platform and portfolio strategy by identifying reusable assets, shared APIs, and infrastructure investments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of professional software development experience, including recent hands-on coding and prototyping.
  • At least 5 years designing cloud-native, microservices, or event-driven architectures using Azure or equivalent cloud platforms.
  • Strong experience building platform infrastructure and scalable backend systems.
  • Experience owning end-to-end solution delivery for medium-to-large projects, including post-release operational accountability.
  • Experience with partner integrations involving payments, SaaS APIs, loyalty, inventory, or authentication providers.
  • Expertise in API-first design using REST and OpenAPI, plus experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience with containerization, Kubernetes-based delivery pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
  • Practical experience with generative AI and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills, including facilitating workshops and presenting technical solutions.
  • Leadership experience mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and enforcing architecture governance.
  • Preferred retail platform knowledge covering POS systems, store operations, or payment processing.
  • Preferred certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect or AWS Solutions Architect.
  • Preferred experience with Azure APIM, Kong, Apigee, MuleSoft, Boomi, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, JWT, PCI, OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, JSON Schema, distributed systems, and Dual-Track Agile.
