Responsibilities
- Build and ship production LLM-powered agents for software delivery lifecycle activities including intake, estimation, requirements, design, coding, testing, release, and operations.
- Engineer agent scaffolding including tool use via MCP, agent-to-agent handoffs through A2A, event-driven orchestration, and Jira and enterprise-system integrations.
- Design automated evaluation suites, release gates, guardrails, human-in-the-loop approval points, review thresholds, and escalation paths.
- Instrument agent quality, latency, cost, and adoption; analyze failure patterns; and tune prompts, context, and configurations.
- Build retrieval and knowledge layers over process libraries, decision histories, code, and delivery data, and establish reusable prompt and context standards.
- Contribute to the orchestrator, persona consoles, dashboards, and enterprise AI platform while owning agents through their full lifecycle.
- Apply strong architecture, code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, and cloud-native engineering practices.
- For Senior Staff scope, define patterns and standards for difficult problems such as orchestration, evaluation design, and agent reliability at scale, while mentoring and multiplying the team.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience for Staff or 9+ years for Senior Staff, including a record of shipping and operating production systems.
- Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications or agents, including prompt and context engineering, tool calling, retrieval, or multi-agent workflows.
- Experience designing evaluations for AI systems or strong test-engineering instincts applicable to non-deterministic software.
- Strong proficiency in Python or TypeScript and solid API, microservices, and event-driven architecture skills.
- Fluency with Git, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and cloud platforms.
- Sound judgment about automation versus human review and the ability to clearly explain those decisions.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with MCP, A2A, Anthropic or OpenAI APIs, Bedrock, Vertex, LangGraph, developer platforms, orchestration systems, SDLC tooling, Jira, GitHub, ServiceNow, retrieval systems, embeddings, enterprise knowledge graphs, and enterprise AI security, privacy, and responsible-AI reviews.
- Evidence of engineering craft through open-source contributions, technical writing, or internal platforms with devoted users is preferred.
