Responsibilities
- Bring up new devices and lead debugging and performance tuning across hardware, firmware, and software teams.
- Design, implement, and maintain drivers and Android services for constrained embedded environments with reliability and security requirements.
- Own work streams covering hardware bring-up, peripheral drivers and communication, and power and performance optimization.
- Analyze bug reports, manage defect resolution, and report issue status.
- Support global teams, external vendors, QA staff, and product teams with technical information and coordination.
- Perform code reviews and help ensure product and feature quality and timely delivery.
- Define, maintain, and execute appropriate automated test cases with QA.
- Work independently and collaboratively to solve problems with limited guidance.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience in device driver development, embedded systems, or operating systems.
- At least 2 years of experience working with mobile or other connected devices.
- Experience with automated testing, build systems, and communication protocols such as UART, GPIO, SPI, and I2C.
- Proficiency in C/C++ or Kotlin/Java.
- Knowledge of custom Android, embedded Linux, or real-time operating systems and familiarity with software development tools.
- A degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience adding, monitoring, and parsing telemetry data to proactively resolve issues.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese.
- Preferred: experience with ARM platforms, microcontrollers, POS hardware and peripherals, EMV, cryptography, PCI technology, transaction processing, and related retail standards.
