Responsibilities
- Design and own high-throughput distributed data pipelines and platform infrastructure through production.
- Decompose ambiguous initiatives into structured plans that teams can execute in parallel.
- Write strongly typed, production-grade Python.
- Optimize SQL through query tuning, data modeling, and execution-plan analysis.
- Define contracts across frontend, backend services, and infrastructure.
- Mentor junior engineers and partner with leadership on roadmap and technical decisions.
- Instrument systems and establish effective observability and monitoring.
- Design, build, and operate production systems with end-to-end ownership.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with full ownership of production systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python, including mypy, Pydantic, and proper abstractions.
- Strong SQL skills at scale.
- Deep experience building and operating distributed data pipelines and event-driven architectures.
- Hands-on AWS experience with Lambda, SQS, IAM, and CloudWatch, including cost-aware design.
- Hands-on Docker experience.
- Experience with Datadog or an equivalent observability solution.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Familiarity with FastAPI, Django, SQLAlchemy, Celery, Terraform, or CDK is preferred.
