Responsibilities

  • Define end-to-end API architecture and enterprise integration strategies.
  • Design, implement, secure, test, and evolve scalable REST APIs and microservices.
  • Establish API standards for modeling, error handling, pagination, versioning, compatibility, idempotency, and lifecycle management.
  • Create and review OpenAPI/Swagger specifications for implementation, documentation, testing, and integration.
  • Build resilient, highly available, observable, maintainable, and performant cloud-native backend services.
  • Develop reusable frameworks, shared services, SDKs, and engineering accelerators.
  • Apply distributed-systems, integration, orchestration, security, and automation practices.
  • Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Security, and Engineering teams to deliver compliant technical solutions.
  • Contribute to design and code reviews, production issue resolution, root cause analysis, modernization, and continuous improvement.
  • Influence API strategy, platform evolution, engineering standards, automation, and technology adoption.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Proven software engineering experience focused on API development, integration, distributed systems, and enterprise applications.
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale APIs and microservices in DevOps environments.
  • Expertise in API architecture, REST, API-first delivery, OpenAPI/Swagger, governance, lifecycle management, versioning, and compatibility.
  • Experience with API quality practices including contract testing, mocking, schema validation, compatibility checks, functional testing, and quality gates.
  • Hands-on Java, Spring Boot, Spring Web, Spring Security, and Python development experience.
  • Hands-on AWS experience with Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, SNS/SQS, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager.
  • Knowledge of API security, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, mTLS, API keys, role-based access control, input validation, rate limiting, throttling, and secret management.
  • Experience with scalability, resilience, fault tolerance, timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, idempotency, caching, service discovery, and observability.
  • Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar databases, including data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with Git, Jenkins or GitHub Actions, automated testing, static analysis, security scanning, deployment automation, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Preferred experience with Terraform, Kafka, Apigee, Kong, MuleSoft, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or AI-assisted engineering tools.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, ownership, and technical-influence skills.
