Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and launch features for Splunk’s core search functionality.
- Build robust, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems in multithreaded and multiprocess environments.
- Define and perform search-language optimizations and transformations.
- Analyze and improve the reliability and scalability of search execution pipelines.
- Diagnose customer incidents, identify product, observability, and process gaps, and deliver preventative enhancements.
- Hire and mentor junior engineers and help grow team talent.
Requirements
- At least five years of related experience with a technical bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience, or three years of experience with a technical master’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency in C++ and the ability to learn Python, Java, or Go.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and software design.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using associated tools.
- Experience developing distributed systems such as databases, file systems, or storage systems.
- Experience with CI/CD systems, test automation frameworks, and integrating AI coding assistants and agentic workflows into development and testing.
- Experience with REST, gRPC, or similar communication paradigms.
- Experience working with public cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Knowledge of deploying and managing services in Kubernetes clusters.
- Knowledge of query languages and processing, such as SQL and SPL.
