Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and own Java/Spring Boot services, RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Build React applications and reusable UI components with attention to state management, routing, accessibility, and frontend performance.
- Design authentication and authorization flows using OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and identity providers such as Okta.
- Apply secure API, token-handling, RBAC, input-validation, and secrets-management practices.
- Own features through requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Develop CI/CD pipelines and deploy containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and/or Terraform.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production systems using observability tools, participate in incident response, and perform root-cause analysis.
- Write unit, integration, and API tests; participate in code and architecture reviews; and improve engineering practices.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to technical direction, documentation, architecture decisions, and operational runbooks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and identify improvements to performance, reliability, scalability, developer productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Evaluate and integrate AI/LLM capabilities, including LLM APIs and RAG-based solutions, where appropriate.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software development experience with strong full-stack development experience.
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API design, and microservices architecture.
- Strong hands-on experience with React, JavaScript or TypeScript, hooks, component design, and state management.
- Understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and identity providers such as Okta or Azure AD.
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and software architecture.
- Experience designing applications for scalability, availability, reliability, performance, and security.
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including schema design and SQL optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, plus Helm and/or Terraform and AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with production troubleshooting, observability, monitoring, incident management, automated testing, code reviews, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
- Ability to independently own complex features, make technical decisions with minimal supervision, communicate effectively, and mentor engineers.
- Preferred experience with IAM, cybersecurity, digital certificates, PKI, Kafka, event-driven architectures, highly available distributed systems, feature flags, progressive delivery, AI/LLM capabilities, cross-team technical initiatives, architecture improvements, engineering standards, technical strategy, or developer productivity initiatives.
