Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate highly available microservices for accurate, efficient, and secure routing across Microsoft 365 infrastructure.
- Lead architecture and end-to-end delivery of complex features, translating ambiguous requirements into designs, execution plans, and measurable outcomes.
- Improve availability, routing accuracy, latency, capacity, deployment safety, incident rates, and detection and recovery times using telemetry and experimentation.
- Build resiliency capabilities including dependency isolation, graceful degradation, automated detection, safe rollback, and disaster recovery.
- Diagnose complex production issues and turn incident learnings into durable engineering improvements.
- Drive cross-team initiatives with partner services, infrastructure, security teams, and Microsoft 365 workload owners.
- Use AI and agentic engineering techniques to accelerate development, testing, operational investigation, and service optimization.
- Promote engineering standards through architecture reviews, code reviews, observability practices, testing strategies, and secure development processes.
- Mentor and unblock engineers while increasing the team's technical and operational maturity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree with 6+ years of experience, or a bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience designing, developing, testing, and operating production software or online services and owning substantial work through deployment and ongoing operation.
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems or cloud services, distributed-systems principles, highly available services, observability, automated recovery, safe deployment, incident response, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with front-end, front-door, gateway, proxy, traffic-management, service-mesh, or request-routing systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives, collaborate across organizational boundaries, and use measurable outcomes to prioritize work.
- Experience using AI, machine learning, or agentic systems and experience with Azure or another major cloud platform and modern deployment, telemetry, and configuration-management systems.
